Birth Processing (75 minutes per session)
Processing previous childbirth experiences, in the form of any or all of these:
‣ listening to you as you share your birth experience
‣ looking over photos or other memorabilia with you as you tell your story
‣ answering your questions about specific medical interventions you experienced or were offered
‣ brainstorming ways to target your existing therapy/therapies if you are feeling “stuck”
‣ recommending therapists or other therapies that may help if you require ongoing support
‣ reviewing parts of your medical record with you as you work to “put all the pieces together”
‣ practicing mindfulness techniques that may help you move through difficult moments
**Birth processing sessions may be conducted remotely via Skype or phone (currently only available in the state of PA) if you are unable to visit our Center City, Philadelphia office location
Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Preparedness (60 minutes per session)
Preparation for subsequent births after a difficult birth experience, including:
‣ creating a written “birth wishes” document targeting aspects of your current pregnancy and birth care that feel most important in light of your prior birth experience
‣ exploring available prenatal and birth care provider options near you, helping you tailor your decisions about care provider and mode of delivery to your needs
‣ helping to answer your questions regarding specific hospitals’ or birth centers’ policies or protocols regarding monitoring or other pregnancy/birth care which may impact your decision-making
‣ recommending doulas, labor support materials, readings, and other resources that may assist you in your current pregnancy
‣ planning for postpartum support that will nourish you and your family

Support Groups
Facilitating safe spaces of community for:
‣ parents who have experienced traumatic births
‣ partners and support people who have witnessed those births
‣ health care providers who have attended or witnessed difficult or traumatic births
Speaking Engagements
Presenting to birth workers (OBGYNs and midwives), medical residents, medical/midwifery/nurse practitioner students, hospital staff, and other groups interested in exploring:
‣ how to improve the patient experience during childbirth
‣ how to mitigate trauma (for patients and providers) when things “don’t go according to plan”
‣ how to be an agent of change in a birth care setting to improve care and reduce harm
